Wæm Chyol Mǐshi

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi (/col/ /ˈmɪshi/ [gorgeous; handsome] [island]) is a subtropical Town located in Reqopa Parish, If-70cqǐnrì District, within the Federation of Alveria.

The name Wæm Chyol Mǐshi is derived from the Constructi language, as Wæm Chyol Mǐshi was founded by Rust Trèqthesm, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi has a yearly average temperature of 21°C (69°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 15°C (59°F). Wæm Chyol Mǐshi receives an average of 237 cm/y (93 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Wæm Chyol Mǐshi covers an area of nearly 5 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 5544 m (18188 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1249, by Rust Trèqthesm. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Wæm Chyol Mǐshi is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi is buildings are arranged arround a network of premissive split-log ties streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. Astonishigly, the millitarily questionable fortifications are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

A look around Wæm Chyol Mǐshi gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable. A second look around Wæm Chyol Mǐshi makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

While Wæm Chyol Mǐshi has a public leader, the real authority is hidden from outsiders. This ruler may draw their authority from rationales unacceptable to outsiders, they may have cowed the public authority into obedience, or they may have a mutually beneficial private arrangement with the official ruler.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is skipped in Wæm Chyol Mǐshi.

The Leucrotta near Wæm Chyol Mǐshi are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Wæm Chyol Mǐshi's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 2 via oratory performances.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century a most peculiar disaster struck Wæm Chyol Mǐshi, causing great chunks of ice to fall from the sky. Wæm Chyol Mǐshi lost 241 people, 203 livestock, and 32 buildings in the disaster.. The ice rain is generally remembered as the Woe Rain.
